Anti-Captain America
I really enjoy the Marvel movies and their super heroes. Of course one of the most popular super heroes of the Marvel Universe is Captain America.
He was physically a very small man with a very big heart. The government injected him with chemicals which gave him super human strength yet maintained his heart of valor and honor.
I joked with Sheila a couple of days ago that I was the anti-Captain America. I was being injected with chemo, steroids, and ingesting anti-nausea pills as well as anti-biotic and blood thinner pills.
But they certainly weren’t giving me superhuman strength and in fact with chemo it was tearing down rather than building up.
However there is another ‘injection’ which supersedes even the chemicals which were injected into Captain America. That of course is the ‘injection’ of the Holy Spirit within us.
God Himself dwelling within us! The injection of the Holy Spirit changes us from very ordinary people into super heroes who can rebuke Satan and his fallen angels.
We can lay hands on the sick as well as pray for daily bread and divine intervention in the lives of those who come to us.
Our lives become changed. The injection burst the chains that had bound us to ourselves. We are set free to serve and sacrifice for others. We become changed people, from spiritual runts to spiritual giants.
To borrow from another Marvel super hero, the hulk, who was transformed by anger into an unstoppable physical force, we are transformed by love into an unstoppable spiritual force.
Please remember that Captain America and the Hulk and the chemicals that gave them superhuman strength AREN’T REAL.
We and the Holy Spirit that gives us super human spiritual power ARE REAL.
The Holy Spirit that brought you to faith in Jesus many years ago is still in you. He wants to lead you even further outside of your comfort zone than you are now.
There are battles to be won! Supernatural forces to be defeated! People to be set free!
